History of VERTU Motors

December 2006

Vertu Motors was formed by a small team to acquire and consolidate UK motor retail businesses.  The Executive Directors are experienced within the sector, having previously held senior positions within many other successful motor retail plc’s.

March 2007

Vertu Motors acquired Bristol Street Motors the 13th largest motor retailer in the UK.  With the addition of Blake Holdings, Lincolnshire Honda and Jennings of Morpeth, Vertu Motors quickly became the 10th largest motor retailer in the United Kingdom.  The Company will continue to seek to acquire businesses that add value and strength to the group especially where there is real potential for performance improvements through the application is its expertise.

The Directors believe that performance improvement opportunities can be realised in acquired businesses through the successful re-engineering of business processes and through providing exceptional customer service.  This will be aided through the development of high performing motor retail professionals throughout the business as a result of training, development and selective recruitment.  Further profit enhancements will be sought through the development and maximisation of channels to market, such as the internet, sub-prime finance, contract hire and fleet operations.

July 2008

At the Motor Trader Awards Ceremony in London, Vertu Motors plc were awarded, by a panel of judges, the prestigious award of Motor Trader Dealer Group of the Year 2008.  This ceremony is attended by around 1,200 people from our industry consisting of both Dealers from around the country and the manufacturers.  The judges said that the award was for the Group that had excelled in the year.
