Volkswagen has revealed the second generation of the T-Roc, which is set to go on sale across Europe later this year.

The new version of the popular SUV, which was first launched back in 2017, is based off the same MQB Evo platform as a wide range of current VW models that include the Golf, Tiguan and the Tayron and will be exclusively offered with a choice of two turbo-charged hybrid engines at launch.

Those mild hybrid engines – with either 114hp or 148hp – are set to be joined by two all-new hybrid drive systems, along with a more high-performance T-Roc R.

Style wise, the new T-Roc retains the design of a coupe-like rear but with a completely revised design including a front-end more in line with other new additions to the Volkswagen line-up.

Coming in at 12cm longer than the existing car, the second generation T-Roc provides additional space for passengers within the cabin and also benefits from increased boot space – which rise by 30 litres to 475 litres.

Technical innovations include a new version of Travel Assist, exit warning systems Park Assist Pro – the latter of which appears in the T-Roc range for the first time.

Three trim levels – Life, Style and R-Line – will be made available at launch, with full pricing and specification for the UK set to be revealed soon.
