The Jeep Wrangler Wins Off-Road Award
The Jeep Wrangler has won the ‘Off-Road’ Award at the 4x4 of the Year Awards, courtesy of the 4x4 magazine.
The judges put the Jeep Wrangler through the tests to judge its ability against the toughest terrains and it came out on top against some of the most capable and strongest competitors.
The Off-Road Award is decided solely on a vehicle’s off-road performance, and according to Alan Kidd, editor of 4x4:
"If you want a vehicle built without compromise to deliver the goods off-road, the Jeep Wrangler is in a class of one. It has all the proper off-road engineering like a ladder chassis, dual-range transfer case and beam axles with long-travel suspension, as well as clever little touches like doors that are shaped not to catch on the top of ruts when you need to get out to rig a recovery. That's real, deep, know-how at work – and it stands the Wrangler in very good stead.”
It isn’t the first time the Jeep Wrangler has scooped up this award, reinforcing that it is truly a vehicle purpose-built for rough terrains and extreme adventures.
Alan Kidd goes on further to say: "The Wrangler won this award last year, too, and since then a new entry-level Sport model has come in, making it accessible to more people. That's good news – though, for showroom-standard ability, the Rubicon version is like nothing else. But it almost doesn't matter which Wrangler you buy – it will, by definition, be the best place you can put your money if you're after a new 4x4 with uncompromised off-road ability."
The unrivalled design of the Jeep Wrangler makes it difficult to compete with and depending on trim levels, there’s an array of technical features that make it a cut above the rest, including two advanced four-wheel drive, active, on-demand full-time systems – Command-Trac and Rock-Trac, making the Wrangler truly stand out from the rest.
