Which Motor Brand Does The Internet Care About The Most?
Here at Vertu Motors, we have recently found that car lovers are most passionate about BMW, when compared against the other top 10 car makes in the UK.
With 10,250 total edits and 4,802 editors, BMW is the world’s most frequently tweaked car brand on Wikipedia, closely followed by Toyota who have 4% fewer edits with 9,890 in total.
In recent months, however, it is Toyota that has accumulated the most edits, far surpassing BMW.
Using Wikipedia edit frequency as the measuring tool, Toyota - and its loyal band of 4,458 editors - is the most hotly discussed car brand of 2021. This may be partly due to new partnerships that unfolded in the past seven months, as well as recently purchasing new self-driving technology from Lyft.
Toyota also has the most devoted users out of all the car brands analysed.
Stepho-wrs is the most frequent editor across Wiki’s car brand pages, with a staggering 584 total edits on the Toyota page. Urbanoc (Renault) and T-dot (Ford) come in 2nd and 3rd respectively, with 322 and 237 edits.
As for which car brand Wikipedia users are most interested in reading about (not including editing), that award goes to Ford.
People have been checking in to Ford’s Wikipedia page the most out of all car brands analysed, already amassing 862,298 pageviews in 2021.
Ford also has the best pageviews to editing ratio during 2021, with 1 edit to every 24,638 pageviews. This is closely followed by Audi, with only 1 edit to every 17,721 pageviews in 2021.
