A Vehicle Tour of the Mercedes-Benz EQS

The Mercedes-Benz EQS is a luxury electric vehicle that feels like something from the future.

The electric alternative to the S-Class is the manufacturer’s first ‘ground up’, or purpose-built EV (other electric models such as the EQA, EQB and EQC, are all modified from petrol and diesel variants), and it’s safe to say Mercedes has created something special here.

So, what can we expect from the new flagship model? Watch our vehicle tour or read on to learn more.

Exterior

The EQS is immediately striking and has a unique, holistic and flowing design that has been based around achieving ultimate aerodynamic efficiency.

A low, sporty front end features the Mercedes EQ LED light bar across the bonnet.

Our model had 21-inch AMG alloy wheels which will certainly set a commanding presence on the roads – the contrast of chrome and black detailing gives the vehicle an extra sporty feel.

Flush door handles and tinted privacy glass on the rear windows add to the premium design as you move further around the side of the vehicle. The charging port sits behind a discreet flap and opens to reveal AC and DC ports.

The rear is nicely rounded and features stunning helix brake lights and the EQ rear light bar.

Interior

The inside of the Mercedes-Benz EQS is like no other, and looks and feels a bit like a spaceship.

Rear passengers will have ample room, with the added luxury of heated seats, cushioned headrests and independent climate control to keep them happy.

In the front, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel sits in front of the driver. Control pads on the steering wheel allow you to control the display at ease. Plus, the large, 12.8-inch second-generation MBUX touchscreen sits in the centre of the dashboard, which gives you access to the sat nav, media and radio, vehicle settings and stats.

Quality materials have been used throughout the vehicle to enhance comfort, with vegan leather coming in as standard.

The hatchback-style rear makes access to the boot extremely easy, and a 610-litre capacity means that you can fit plenty inside – from golf clubs to shopping bags, there is room for everything!

Drive and Performance

As you’d expect the EQS is pretty much silent when driving thanks to its powertrain. Plus, the instant torque that comes with an electric motor really adds to the sense of luxurious comfort – electric suits Mercedes.

The EQS has a phenomenal range of 453 miles, thanks to a huge 107kWh battery (for context, a typical battery pack in a mainstream EV is around 40kWh).

The EQS has rapid charging capabilities and if using a 200kW charger, you’ll be able to add an extra 186 miles of range in just 15 minutes, or if using a more common 150kW charger, it will take about one and a half hours.

If you’re after a long-range, premium electric vehicle that truly feels like the future, the Mercedes-Benz EQS could be just the ticket. With excellent driving dynamics, a large and luxurious interior and striking exterior looks - it has everything you could want and more.
