The Volkswagen Tayron is effectively the replacement for the Tiguan Allspace in the VW range and is one of the few genuine seven-seat SUVs that are available on the market.

The Tayron provides drivers with a choice of engine options - with petrol, diesel and hybrid all offered - and plenty of space, which makes it one of the more appealing models in its class.

The variety of engine options will be a big selling point for the Tayron, ranging from a 1.5 litre petrol unit right through to a powerful plug-in hybrid that can do more than 70 miles in electric-only mode. If you're going to be carrying heavy loads regularly, two diesels tick many of the boxes.

Space

You'll benefit from plenty of room in the Tayron, both in terms of passengers and in terms of luggage. The boot in the five-seat PHEV provides 705 litres of space, and the seven-seat version offers 850 litres of space with the third row of seats put flat. Even in use, there is a very usable 345 litres offered, with a range of storage spaces within the cabin.
