Renault has given its popular Twingo model a facelift in the strictest sense of the word.

Confident that what is under the bonnet is already in peak condition, the French firm has undertaken a purely cosmetic overhaul of the car.

However, in its recent review of the hatchback, What Car? explained that the makeover takes place both inside and out of the car, making it more desirable.

The magazine added that the new Twingo borrows heavily from the DeZir supercar and Frendzy MPV concepts, which have been creating a buzz at recent motor shows.

As style is the key factor with most concept cars, the move could see a growing number of people clamouring to get behind the wheel of the new Twingo.

"The new-look nose features an enlarged Renault logo sitting in the middle of a narrow grille that flows directly into the headlights," the news provider commented.

"These, and the fog lights, are positioned next to the grille, with eyelids' on the headlights giving the car a 'face'.

Drivers are also set to be offered more choice, with Renault's personalisation options including new roof decals and a range of different colours for the door mirrors.
