A Sales Administrator at Vertu Honda Boston, Wendy Tempest, has been recognised for 25 years of service at the dealership, having joined the site on the very day it first opened its doors.
Wendy was surprised with her award and an invitation to a VIP race day at Nottingham Races by Vertu’s Operations Director for Honda, Chris Taylor. The two have known each other for many years, having met at the start of Wendy’s motoring career when Chris was Group Sales Manager at the time.
Originally starting in accounts, Wendy later transitioned into an administrative role and became a familiar face across multiple dealerships in the region, stepping in to support colleagues and cover roles where needed. Wendy is the only remaining member of the original team still based at the Boston site.
Over the last two and a half decades, she’s built lasting friendships and become a well-known figure across the business, and still regularly meets with former colleagues for a meal and a catch-up.
The Boston dealership was acquired by Vertu Motors plc, the UK’s fourth largest dealership group, in 2007, marking a new chapter in Wendy’s career.
Wendy said: “A lot has changed over the years. When I started, there was just seven of us at the site and we’re now a team of over 20. I’ve had the chance to work with so many brilliant people and I’ve made friendships that have lasted decades. I have always enjoyed working here as it’s such a friendly workplace, and it’s the people I work with that make it so special.
“When our dealership first joined Vertu, it felt like a fresh start but with the same familiar faces. Since then, we’ve seen investment in the site and the people, and it’s been great to see how things have developed since then.
“It was a lovely surprise when Chris presented me with my award. I was so pleased it was him after working with him for so many years and having seen him climb the career ladder.”
