BYD Maintains Impressive UK Growth
BYD’s impressive growth within the UK market has continued through the second quarter of 2025, with the manufacturer having now registered more than doubled the amount of cars sold across 2024 in total.
The second quarter of the year saw a total of 10,116 new BYD models registered in the UK to take the total number of registrations to just under 20,000; an increase of 568% compared to the same period last year.
In fact, to the end of June, BYD had secured a larger percentage of the UK market than a raft of more established brands – including the likes of Mazda, Honda and SEAT.
It follows on from a strong Q1 in which BYD surpassed its entire 2024 registrations total barely two years after entering the UK market.
Although best known as an EV brand, the best-selling BYD model so far this year has been the hybrid Seal U DM-I, followed by the Seal saloon, with the manufacturer now hoping to see a further spike in new registrations following the introduction of the new Dolphin Surf.
The smallest car in the BYD range, the Dolphin Surf is amongst the cheapest new EV models on sale in the UK and is designed largely for the urban market, with the largest battery option available giving range of around 200 miles.
