The BYD Seal has been given a nip-and-tuck for 2026 with a series of minor modifications to raise the executive electric saloon’s appeal.
As the halo model for the burgeoning Chinese marque in the UK, the BYD Seal has proven a popular, value-oriented alternative to other premium electric saloons like the BMW i4 and Mercedes-Benz CLA.
For 2026, BYD hasn’t messed too much with a winning formula with the sleek, rakish four-door body style staying largely unchanged with exception to a new wheel trims, different signage on the boot lid and a wider colour palette.
The latter sees Ruby Red, Obsidian Black and Lavender Grey join the line-up, increasing the choice of hues to six colours.
Inside, the sumptuous interior is also much the same as before, with a large 15.6-inch touchscreen dominating the centre console and Nappa leather upholstery coming as standard.
Under the skin, however, the Seal gets revised packaging, which has the effect of increasing practicality, especially in the boot which grows from 400-litres to 480-litres. As a result, the Seal now has a larger boot than both the i4 and CLA.
It’s not just at the rear that the Seal has increased in luggage capacity with the ‘frunk’ under the bonnet improving to 72-litres as well.
New tech for 2026 includes a Driver Monitoring System, which detects a driver’s attention on the road, and a Bluetooth key that allows drivers to access their car through a smartphone-based keyless entry system.
There are no changes to the acclaimed 83kWh battery, which can be had in either single-motor (Design trim) or AWD dual-motor guise (Excellence trim), delivering either 308bhp or 523bhp respectively.
Range remains among the class best with single-motor offering a generous 354-miles and the dual-motor going all the way to 323-miles.
Despite the upgrades, prices for the BYD Seal remain unchanged for the 2026 model year.
