The Citroën ë-C5 Aircross Long Range has become only the third car to be granted the full £3,750 discount offered by the UK Government under the Electric Car Grant.
The ë-C5 Aircross Long Range joins the Ford Puma Gen-E and the Ford E-Tourneo Courier in being given Band 1 status, with a number of other Citroën models – including the regular ë-C5 Aircross – having previously been given the Band 2 discount of £1,500.
Whilst the current ë-C5 Aircross provides range of up to 322 miles, the upcoming Long Range version is expected to provide drivers with nearly 422 miles of electric motoring.
The C5 Aircross is one of seven cars that are on the shortlist to be named as the 2026 Car of the Year, with the smaller C3 Aircross having been a finalist for the 2025 award.
"It’s really important to us at Citroën that the transition to electrification is made as accessible as possible and we price all of our vehicles accordingly,” Greg Taylor, managing director of Citroën UK, said:
"The ë-C5 Aircross Long Range is the first vehicle of its size and type to receive the full grant, which is testament to the hard work of the team at Citroën to make cars that are practical for all.
“We welcome the support the UK government is providing to make the transition to electric attainable and are proud that Citroën continues to lead the way."
According to the government, more than 30,000 drivers ‘have already made the switch [to electric] thanks to the grant’ with nearly 40 different models now eligible for an ECG discount of some form.
