Co-op Live Named As New BRIT Awards Home
Co-op Live will become the new home of the BRIT Awards in 2026 after the announcement of a two-year deal that will see the biggest night in British music take place in Manchester.
Launched back in 1977, the BRIT Awards have only ever taken place in London, with the annual event being held at The O2 Arena since 2011.
The decision to leave London will see the Awards held at Vertu-backed Co-op Live in both 2026 and 2027 as part of ‘a bold new chapter for the legendary event’, with Manchester selected thanks to its rich history in British music.
The announcement comes ahead of the return to the stage of one of Manchester’s biggest ever bands later this year when Oasis go on tour for the first time in more than a decade.
“This is a very exciting time for The BRIT Awards,” Jason Illey MBE, Chairman of Sony Music UK & Ireland said. “Moving to Manchester, the home of some of the most iconic and defining artists of our lifetime, will invigorate the show and build on the BRITs legacy of celebrating and reinvesting in world-class music.
“Hosting the show in Manchester, with its vibrant cultural history, perfectly captures the spirit and energy of the BRIT Awards. I can’t wait to see the show at the amazing state-of-the art Co-op Live venue.”
The 2026 BRIT Awards will take place on Saturday 28 February.
