Dacia has pulled the wraps off the model that will herald its arrival in the family car sector with the launch of the appropriately named Dacia Striker.

An all-new estate-like crossover model pitched as a rival to the Skoda Octavia and new Kia K4, the Dacia Striker will arrive later this year with hybrid power and an entry price tag expected to generously undercut competitors.

Most notably, the Striker eschews the convention of a traditional C-segment entry by blending the practicality of an estate with the muscular appeal of an SUV.

Measuring 4.62m long, it is the largest car Dacia has ever built and joins the Bigster SUV in demonstrating the Romanian marque’s ambitions to move into more family-oriented segments having previously focused on smaller classes with models like the Sandero and Duster.

While the Striker doesn’t fit a conventional mould, it will certainly cut a dash on the road with its plethora of sharp lines and rugged touches.

Wearing a fresh take on the familiar signature front-end worn by other Dacias, the Striker gets vertical LED lights that stretch either side of a squared-off front bumper.

Elsewhere, bold, stylised alloy wheels and flared wheelerches emphasise the raised ride-height, while the Striker’s estate-like shape is disguised by a rakish profile and split D-pillar that makes the roof look like it is floating.

Dacia Striker: Engines

While Dacia is light on information beyond revealing the first official images of the Striker – such as what the interior will look like and how large the boot is - it is known to be built on the familiar CMF-B platform that underpins the Bigster.

As such, expect similar powertrains beneath the surface, including a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine and the 1.8-litre Hybrid 155 unit that generates 153bhp and deliver up to 50mpg in fuel economy.

A Hybrid 150 four-wheel drive variant is also tipped to make an appearance further down the line.

Dacia Striker: Prices

The Striker is just the latest in a line of models from Dacia designed to challenge convention and provide a value-for-money, family-oriented alternative to the mainstream.

It’s a tactic that has worked wonders for the brand thus far with the Sandero – which is larger yet cheaper than other small hatchbacks – topping Europe’s sales charts for the seventh consecutive year in 2025.

Moreover, the Duster and Bigster are now firmly established as the best-selling models in their respective segments in Europe.

Prices for the new Dacia Striker are yet-to-be-confirmed but are expected to undercut rivals at around the £20-22k mark.
