Ducati has reeled off its fourth successive MotoGP World Championship Riders title after Marc Marquez successfully wrapped up the 2025 crown with five events in hand.

The Spaniard has been in spectacular form in his first season competing with the factory Ducati Team Lenovo squad, his reeling of a remarkable 24 wins from 34 races contested so far propelling him to a seventh career MotoGP title.

Marquezs success represents a fourth consecutive riders title win for the Italian manufacturer that follows on from Pecco Bagnaias successes with Ducati Corse in 2022 and 2023, plus Jorge Martins victory with Pramac Racing in 2024.

Moreover, with 30 wins from 34 races thus far this season Sprint and full-length Grand Prix Ducati has long since wrapped up the Constructors title with close to triple its closest rivals points tally.

Marc Marquez: The Comeback King

While the prospect of a Marquez title has been on the cards ever since a dominant turn during the opening few rounds, it in no way undermines the extraordinary circumstances surrounding his return to form in 2025.

Indeed, the 2025 MotoGP title win comes a full six years since Marquez clinched his sixth MotoGP crown in 2019 in Honda colours.

At the time it was a dominant fifth straight MotoGP title for the Catalonian rider, prompting the impression that no-one could bring an end to the Marquez era. In the end it was the man himself whod abruptly halt his own momentum when a heavy crash at the start of the much-delayed COVID-affected 2020 MotoGP season opener in Jerez left him nursing a serious arm injury.

Multiple operations and a long period of absence followed before further injuries on his return hampered his attempts to get back to his best.

Moreover, Marquezs sporadic participation coincided with a significant decline in form for the once dominant Honda HRC team, prompting the man himself to sever ties with the manufacturer in favour of a shock move to Ducati for 2024.

Despite taking a perceived step back by joining the satellite Gresini Racing team and riding year-old machinery, a strong race-winning campaign preceded Marquezs move to the full factory scarlet squad in 2025 where hed returned to his consummate best in his first year as a works Ducati rider.

While some mistakes early on in the year served to keep his more consistent brother Alex Marquez in title contention, a devastating run of mid-season form that yielded 15 consecutive wins would ultimately destroy any hope of a rival retort.

Marc Marquez Draws Level with Valentino Rossi

Marquezs success sees him draw level with the legend and famous foe Valentino Rossi in terms of premier class titles (seven) and overall motorcycle grand prix world titles (nine). He is also just one shy of the great Giacomo Agostinis all-time record of eight premier class titles, even if the Italians 15 overall grand prix titles remains a major benchmark to overcome.
