Dunfermline Apprentice Named Apprentice Of the Year At The Vertu Masters Awards
Calum Rae, a second-year Apprentice Technician at Vertu Dunfermline Hyundai, has been awarded Apprentice of the Year at the prestigious 2024-25 Vertu Masters Awards.
Now in their fourteenth year, the Vertu Masters Awards recognise and celebrate the achievements of the Group’s highest-performing non-management colleagues. With more than 7,800 colleagues competing for an award, winning a Masters Award is an outstanding achievement and a testament to excellence and dedication.
The Apprentice of the Year award recognises a colleague’s overall commitment to learning and development, their ability to apply that learning in the workplace, and their embodiment of Vertu’s core values. Calum stood out for his exceptional technical ability, strong work ethic, and willingness to take on challenging tasks.
Despite being only in his second year, Calum is already performing complex tasks that even experienced technicians can find difficult, including working on gearboxes and engines.
He frequently assists Master Technicians and is regarded as an integral part of the team at Vertu Dunfermline Hyundai. His proactive approach and determination to learn ahead of schedule have earned him widespread respect from his colleagues and trainers.
Paul Lunan, General Manager at Vertu Dunfermline Hyundai, praised Calum’s achievements: "Calum’s technical ability and professionalism are remarkable for someone at this early stage of their career. He consistently steps up to challenging tasks and shows a maturity beyond his years. He’s a key part of the team, and his future in the industry looks incredibly promising."
Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, added: "Calum is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. His performance sets a benchmark for apprentices across the Group, and we are thrilled to recognise his outstanding contribution with this well-deserved award."
Calum said: “I love working at Vertu and am passionate about learning as much as I can. My colleagues are really supportive and I’m thrilled to win this award.”
As part of his award, Calum received a Masters Award Trophy, a tax-free £1,000 bonus, a bottle of champagne, and a Vertu goodie bag.
Calum’s achievement reflects Vertu’s commitment to developing talent and investing in the next generation of automotive professionals. His success highlights the strength of the Group’s apprenticeship programme and the exciting career opportunities available within the Vertu group.
