Exeter Technician Reaches UK Final Of Hyundai 'Skills Olympics'

An Exeter-based car technician has been named one of the finest in the country after securing a place in the national final of the 2025 Hyundai UK Skills Olympics.

Robert Kingdon, from Vertu Hyundai Exeter, competed at the Hyundai Academy, High Wycombe where the UK’s top 12 Expert and Master Technicians battled it out in a demanding technical challenge, with the UK Champion going on to represent the country at the World Skills Olympics in Korea.

Sadly, Robert just missed out on the top spot at the competition, which celebrated Hyundai’s aftersales talent, but was commended by judges on his technical expertise and enthusiasm.

Robert’s success marks a proud moment for Exeter and for Vertu, with three of its technicians reaching the 2025 UK final.

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, said: “I’m delighted that three of our technicians have made it through to the 2025 Hyundai UK Skills Olympics, which is a celebration of technical excellence, innovation, and the very best of Hyundai’s aftersales talent.

“Robert has shown skill and focus to reach this level and was unlucky not to progress to the international round. He is a fantastic representative of Vertu Hyundai Exeter and we’re looking forward to continuing to support his career development with us.”
