Vauxhall has announced a raft of updates to the Astra and Astra Sports Tourer models that will be officially revealed at the Brussels Motor Show early next month.
The main design changes come at the front of the car, where the Astra will now take on a sharp new look with the addition of the illuminated Vauxhall Griffin, which made its first appearance on the Grandland.
Compass-inspired light strips run both horizontally and vertically from that illuminated badge on the front of the car, taking inspiration from the Experimental Concept car that was revealed by Vauxhall back in 2023.
On the inside, Vauxhall’s ‘Intelli-Seats’ – which are designed to improve comfort on longer trips by relieving pressure on the tailbone – come as standard across the range, with upholstery for the seats being made from 100 per cent recycled material.
Whilst no information has been provided on revisions to the ICE powertrains, the Astra EV will benefit from an increased battery size which will boost range to just over 280 miles, an increase of around 22 miles on the current model.
For the first time, the Astra EV will also offer the ability to charge external devices with ‘Vehicle to Load’ functionality.
“Our new Vauxhall Astra is sharper, more modern and more sustainable than ever,” Vauxhall marketing director Steve Catlin said.
“With new design and technology highlights such as the illuminated logo in the further developed brand face or the innovative Intelli-Lux HD light, we are taking our compact class bestseller to the next level.
“The new Astra will inspire customers and continue the decades of success of our compact class.”
