Kia has revealed a new look for the Stonic, with the compact SUV undergoing a radical makeover for the European market.
The revised model features a front end that is more in line with recent additions to the Kia range having adopted the same ‘opposites united’ design philosophy.
Changes to the rear end, which include a revised tailgate layout and updated bumper mean the new Stonic is 25mm longer than the current model, with internal space being roughly the same as the variant it will replace.
Whilst the current focus across the automotive market is on the move towards EVs, the Stonic will be offered with two petrol powertrain options.
The first of those is a standard ICE option with a 1.0 litre T-GDI petrol unit, with the alternative being a mild-hybrid version of the same engine that offers more power and lower emissions.
Both will be offered with either a six-speed manual, or a seven-speed automatic gearbox.
“The new Stonic is the perfect example of how Kia brings elevated design and upper-segment technology to the mainstream market,” Sjoerd Knipping, Chief Operating Officer of Kia Europe said.
“The Stonic is a stylish and smart solution for drivers across Europe who want more from their compact crossovers.”
Full specification and pricing for UK models will be confirmed in due course.
