Are you wanting to clear up the confusion on how to keep your Motability car Good Condition Payment-ready? Here's a checklist to make sure you receive your Good Condition Payment when your Motability lease ends.

First things first. You've already been paying a small guarantee into your lease, and if you tick all these boxes, that money comes straight back to you! To qualify, you need to do all five of the following when you return your vehicle:

Keep up with servicing and repairs.

Your lease covers scheduled services, so be sure to answer any service requests from your dealer and fix any faults promptly. Regularly check oil, coolant, tyre pressures (down to your spare, too!), paintwork, lights and washer fluid to stay on top of those little maintenance jobs.

Return all important items.

Don't forget the parcel shelf, both sets of keys, and (if you have an electric car) your charging cable. If anything's gone missing, chat to your dealer about replacements. Or make an insurance claim for lost keys, remembering you’ll pay the excess.

Present a valid MOT.

Make sure your MOT is current on the day you hand back the keys and arrange this with your dealer in plenty of time.

Settle any outstanding charges.

Clear any hire‑car fines, speeding tickets, damage/repair bills, stopped allowances in arrears or unpaid recovery costs. If your debts are under the Guarantor‑Payment amount, they'll simply deduct them and send you the remainder; otherwise you'll need to pay any extra.

Complete your full lease term.

You only qualify once you've fulfilled your three‑ or five‑year agreement in full. No early returns, please!

Lastly and importantly: If any of these aren't in place on the day you hand your vehicle back, you won't receive the payment. So double‑check your bank details in your Motability online account, phone your dealer about service or MOT dates, and hunt down those spare keys! Do all that, and your Good Condition Payment will be on its way, it's as simple as that.
