Hyundai picked up six trophies at the 2021 Auto Express New Car Awards, with the new all-electric IONIQ 5 taking home the highly coveted Car of the Year title.

The IONIQ 5 also took the top prize in the Mid-Size Company Car, Premium Electric Car and Design categories.

Hyundai s TUCSON won best Mid-Size SUV and the i20N triumphed in the fiercely contested Hot Hatchback' category.

The annual Auto Express New Car Awards are judged by a highly experienced panel of road testers, and every car on sale in the UK is eligible.

The IONIQ 5 is a futuristic looking car and the first to be built on Hyundai s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which delivers faster charging, increased driving range and superior handling. In addition to this revolutionary technology, the IONIQ 5 offers an interior which redefines living space and moving space, with reclining chairs and a flat floor - allowing levels of comfort never seen before in this segment.

The IONIQ 5 was also crowned winner in the Design category. It s exterior evokes the daring attitude of the Pony, Hyundai's first ever production car, coupled with sleek and high-tech design elements to give an ultra-modern feel. 

Offered in a number of electric powertrains, the IONIQ 5 is able to charge from 10 - 80% in just 18 minutes, accelerate from 0-62mph in just 5.2 seconds and has a range of 298 miles from a single charge.

The Hyundai TUCSON also scored at the awards, taking home the Mid-Size SUV award. Road testers were impressed by the range of efficient powertrains, high-value trims and the well-kitted out interior.

The Hyundai i20N took the Hot Hatchback title based on its pure driving appeal; with snappy acceleration and secure handling, road testers were pleased with the motorsport inspired car, which delivers a fun driving experience.

The brand new Hyundai IONIQ 5 featured in our latest TV advert, which celebrated 100 years of Bristol Street Motors. The ad included some classic cars from years gone by, and finished with the innovative EV - a nod to the future of electric mobility.
