The estate versions of the Octavia and the Superb have proven to be huge sellers for Skoda in recent years, with the Czech manufacturer now offering a glimpse into what is to come with the reveal of the Vision O concept.

The car has been created to give an insight into how Skoda is preparing for the electrified future of its estate models, with its existing range of EVs being focused on the SUV market through the Elroq and Enyaq.

The Vision O has been developed from the inside out, with a focus on providing a minimalist interior and sleek exterior that is unlike anything that has come from Skoda in the past.

As with the models that have already made Skoda a go-to option for anyone looking for an estate car, the Vision O is all about space with 650 litres of boot space before even considering dropping the rear seats – which would take space up to a mammoth 1,700 litres.

A huge display, which is more than 1.2m long, fills the dashboard of the car to ensure drivers are able to benefit from access to all of the key information required with the main functions from the technology systems being accessible direct from the steering wheel.

Alongside traditional features like cruise control and voice activation, the Vision O includes a raft of special extras such as a fully integrated fridge, four umbrellas for passengers, and wireless magnetic charging points.

Advanced autonomous driving capabilities are also offered with an AI digital assistant named Laura who can help provide passengers with information about their journey and also act as a personal assistant on the move.

“At Skoda, our commitment to our customers - who have trusted us as leaders in the estate segment since 2016 - drives us to deliver the Vision O; a blend of innovative design, over 650 Litres of luggage space, autonomous driving capabilities, and an intuitive AI assistant,” Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto, said.

“This vehicle transforms every journey into an effortless, empowering experience while advancing our sustainability goals and elevating our ‘modern solid ¢ design principles.”

The minimalist design found on the interior of the car is also found across the exterior, with a focus on making the Vision O as aerodynamic as possible in a bid to maximise efficiency and range, incorporating features like cooling vents and hood ventilation, hidden windscreen wipers, retractable door handles and optimised wheel shapes.

An illuminated Skoda logo is the main feature of the curved front hood, with tech-loop lighting around the front end of the car.

"With the Vision O, form follows function,“ Johannes Neft, Member of the Board of Management for Technical Development, added.

“Active cooling and bonnet ventilation improve aerodynamic efficiency, which translates to a longer range and reduced environmental impact.

“The lighting concept creates a clear identity: Skoda Cyber Lights working with the Tech-Loop face for a distinctive visual signature. The production model will be based on a future Volkswagen Group platform planned for the next decade, with development prioritising efficiency, sustainability, robustness, and a smaller environmental footprint."
