Nissan's Juke R, billed as the world's fastest crossover, has put that billing to the test with a street race in Dubai.

Race fans may be shocked to learn that the Nissan, which combines the muscle of the GT-R with the body of the family-friendly Juke, left a clutch of supercars in its wake.

The Juke R is one of the most hotly-anticipated models in recent years and its profile was given a significant boost after it defeated a Lamborghini Gallardo LP650-4, a Ferrari 458 and Mercedes SLS on the streets of the Middle East.

Those looking to get behind the wheel of the Juke R will find the model boasts a top speed of around 170mph and a 0-62 mph time of just 3.7 seconds, according to the Japanese manufacturer.

Commenting on the car late last year, the firm said: "Created in the UK, Juke-R has been developed by Nissan and built by leading motorsports outfit RML with advice from Nissan Technical Centre Europe.

"Over a 22-week period two models have been created - one right-hand drive and one left-hand drive - with extensive performance testing now completing the final stage of the development project."
