A young Liverpool fan from Coleraine made a dream trip to Anfield to meet his hero Mo Salah, thanks to the Professional Footballer s Association and Bristol Street Motors.

Sixteen-year-old Robin Morrow, who was given special dispensation from his school to travel, made the trip with Dad Stuart to present The Reds striker with the PFA Bristol Street Motors Player of the Month for January. The pair began the morning with a tour of the stadium on Robin s first ever visit to Anfield.

Salah scored Liverpool's only goal in their 1-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion and later bagged a brace in his side's 4-3 win over Crystal Palace.

The two-time African Footballer of the Year, who leads the Premier League scorer's chart with 16 goals this season, received the highest number of fans' votes to take the accolade ahead of David de Gea, Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, Troy Deeney and Leroy Sane.

The PFA Bristol Street Motors Player of the Month Awards recognise the achievements of the best footballers in the country s top four divisions - the Premier League, Championship, League 1 and League 2.

I never dreamed that by nominating my favourite player I d get the chance to meet him

The monthly winners are voted by the public after a panel selects a shortlist of six players from each league.

Robin said: Dad has always been a Liverpool fan and we ve followed the team from Belfast for as long as I can remember. I saw the Player of the Month competition on social media and just decided to enter. I never dreamed that by nominating my favourite player I d get the chance to meet him, and when the email arrived saying I d won the opportunity I didn t believe it at first.

It was a fantastic day that I will never forget. Mo was really nice and happy to pose for photos and being able to go behind the scenes at Anfield and walk down the tunnel was amazing.

The only thing that could top this off is attending a match at Anfield, and the team winning the Premier League title this season!

Liz Cope, chief marketing officer at awards partner Vertu Motors plc - parent company of Bristol Street Motors - added: We are delighted to continue to support the PFA Bristol Street Motors Fans Player of the Month award. It s heart-warming to have the opportunity to enable fans to meet their heroes and I am delighted that Robin enjoyed his once-in-a-lifetime experience at Anfield.
