New Corsa shows Vauxhall's 'dark side'

The latest incarnation of the popular Vauxhall Corsa will show the Luton-based carmaker's dark side, it has been claimed.

Vauxhall has fitted its limited Black Edition Corsa with a "punchy" 1.4 Turbo Start-Stop engine.

This, the manufacturer claims, makes the new addition to the line-up one of the most powerful Corsa models on the market.

A closer inspection of the model shows that the Astra, which has now been given the VXR treatment, is not the only model in the Vauxhall stable to be given some more oomph!

The new engine is capable of producing 120PS and maximum torque of 175Nm starting at 1,750rpm.

Vauxhall confirmed: "The latest addition to the Corsa range has a top speed of 121mph and hits 0-60mph in 9.7 seconds. Fuel consumption is 51.4mpg and CO2 emissions are as low as 129g/km.

"Initially available in a limited production run of 500 units, in both three and five-door body styles, the Black Edition is based on the Corsa Limited Edition and along with the 120PS engine gains a black logo bar and new 17-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels."

Vauxhall is also hoping that despite its small stature, the car will appeal to those at the top end of the market, explaining that the Black Edition can come with a range of innovative extras that are not offered by competitors.
