Nissan Confirms Further Details Of New Micra

Nissan has revealed additional information about the new sixth-generation Micra ahead of the car going on sale later this year.

The new Micra, built on the same platform as the Renault 5, will be one of four all-electric models launched by Nissan by 2027 ahead of the new Leaf, an electric version of the Juke and a small city car based on the upcoming Renault Twingo.

The Micra will only be offered in five door form and with a choice of either a 40kWh or 52kWh battery, which will offer up to 192 and 253 miles of range.

The top-spec battery can accept a charging rate of 100kW to go from 15-80% charge in just half an hour.

Although developed alongside the Renault 5, the Micra has been given its own look thanks to work from the Nissan Design Europe team in London – focused on giving the new model ‘a sense of purpose and an assertive new look’.

NissanConnect and Nissan ProPilot assist will both feature to improve the driver experience and maximise safety.

“In designing the sixth generation of the Micra, we’ve celebrated all the values that have historically made it so popular – and opened a new chapter for Micra as an EV,” Giovanny Arroba, Vice President - Nissan Design Europe, said.

“The exterior has an audacious and playful appearance on first look but has a stance which gives it a solid presence on the road. We’ve also been able to integrate delightful details into the design, which owners will love. We’re proud to have been able to bring the Micra into the EV age.”

Pricing for the new Micra has still to be confirmed.
