Nissan has confirmed the new pricing structure for the Ariya that will make the model eligible for the government’s Electric Car Grant.

The Ariya was named alongside the Micra as being eligible for a £1,500 discount but only once revised pricing was introduced to bring the starting price down below the £37,000 threshold.

As a result of the change, most versions of the SUV are now eligible for the grant, including a number of trim levels that have an RRP in excess of the limit.

That is because the regulations state that more expensive cars can qualify as long variant-version using the same powertrain is below the qualifying price.

Models with both the 63kw and 87kw batteries will therefore be eligible for the grant with the only exceptions across the race being those with all-wheel technology, and the top-of-the-range NISMO version.

“Securing eligibility for the UK Government’s £1,500 Electric Vehicle Grant makes Ariya more accessible than ever,” Fiona Mackay, Nissan GB Marketing Director, said.

“It now offers greater value without compromising on the innovation, design, and performance our customers expect, and reflects our approach of removing barriers to EV ownership and empowering more drivers to make the switch to zero-emission driving.

“And this is just the beginning. Alongside Ariya and the newly launched All-New MICRA, we’re looking forward to the third-generation British-built LEAF later this year, followed by the electric Juke in 2026, also coming from our Sunderland plant.”
