As expected, the new Nissan LEAF has been given Band 1 status under the Electric Car Grant ahead of the first cars being delivered to customers in the New Year.

The LEAF 75kWh model that will be offered at launch will come with a discount of £3,750 under the ECG, which means the British-built model will start from £32,249.

A 52kWh version of the car is set to follow at a later date, although no pricing for that version of the car has been revealed.

”We’re absolutely delighted to be able to confirm LEAF’s pricing at £32,249 including the electric car grant, which will deliver an accessible route to EV ownership for our customers,” Nissan GB Managing Director James Taylor said.

“This is fantastic news for people looking to switch to fully electric motoring as they now have the reassurance that comes from a car with up to 386-miles of range, all the tech they could want and the real-world benefits that come from Nissan’s 15 years of EV expertise.

"Best of all, it’s proudly built right here in the UK!”

The addition of the LEAF to the list of cars eligible for the Electric Car Grant follows the earlier announcement that both the Ariya and the new Micra will get the Band 2 discount of £1,500.

The LEAF will provide drivers with up to 386 miles of range and supports fast-charging that will allow drivers to add 273 miles of motoring in half an hour when using a 150kW DC fast charger.
