Nissan Qashqai scoops Diesel Car of the Year award

Nissan's all-new Qashqai model has taken top honours at Diesel Car's annual awards, being named Car of the Year.

The British-built vehicle also picked up the gong for Best Crossover, a notable feat seeing as it ended Range Rover Evoque's two-year run in this category.

Managing director of Nissan GB Jim Wright said that he was "thrilled" to hear that the Qashqai had received these honours, which he saw as further "validation" of this model's inception being a "major landmark in crossover history".

Ian Robertson, editor and publisher of Diesel Car, added: "As well as being the creator of the sector with the Qashqai, Nissan also romps away in the sales charts with the UK s number one best-selling crossover in its class.

"And it s easy to see why, when you examine the no-compromise class-leading approach to its design, and the fact it is built here in the UK."

Car buyers interested in the all-new Nissan Qashqai can choose from two types of direct injection diesel engines: the 1.5 dCi 110PS (81kW) and the 1.6 dCi 130PS (96kW).

The new model is defined by its aerodynamic body and elevated driving position, making it an enjoyable ride.
