The CUPRA Born has been brought closer into line with other models in the Spanish firm’s range following a mid-life refresh that introduces revised looks, an upgraded interior and new technology.

The smallest model in CUPRA’s line-up – until the eagerly anticipated Raval reaches showrooms later this summer – the CUPRA Born is also one of the most important as its best-selling electric offering.

Five years on from the model’s launch, the Born has undergone a nip-and-tuck and received a series of targeted improvements designed to keep it competitive in the fiercely contested small electric hatchback segment.

While the overall look of the Born is broadly unchanged, CUPRA has introduced a litany of smart new details, including a new triple-triangle arrangement for the matrix-LED headlights, a reshaped grille and splashes of the firm’s signature copper colourway.

There is also a new design for the taillights, which sit on a revised boot-lid, while the front and rear door handles are illuminated now.

Finally, the CUPRA Born gets revised 19 and 20-inch alloy wheel designs, including copper-inflected multi-spoke rims for its sporty flagship, the Born VZ.

Inside, the digital instrument cluster has doubled in size (to 10.25-inches) and been upgraded for ‘increased clarity’.

Tweaks to the interior also include physical buttons on the steering wheel for various controls – an alternative to using the 12.9-inch touchscreen – plus changes to the seat trim and door panels, which are designed to increase the feeling of premium quality.

2026 CUPRA Born: Electric Power & Range

The CUPRA Born range has been scaled back to three trim levels – V1, V2 and VZ – but will still come with the choice of either 59kWh or 79kWh batteries.

Whereas the two battery options offered identical power figures on the outgoing model, the revised Born 59kWh has been downrated to 187bhp. Nevertheless, it means range has improved to 280-miles.

The standard 79kWh battery is still 229bhp, but range has improved significantly from 346-miles to 372-miles.

The rate at which you can charge both models using a rapid DC connection has also improved, rising to 135kW for the 59kWh battery and 185kW for the 79kWh battery.

Meanwhile, the flagship VZ makes use of a more powerful iteration of the 79kWh at 322bhp to place the CUPRA Born into hot hatch territory.

Both versions of the 79kWh battery also get a one-pedal drive mode for the first time, plus a launch control function.

Elsewhere, the specification has been upgraded with the addition of air vents in the rear passenger compartment, more USB-C ports, the introduction of a Mobile Device Key, a new 10-speaker Sennheiser stereo system and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load).

The 2026 CUPRA Born will reach Vertu CUPRA dealerships in the coming weeks.
