Renault’s run of award success from 2025 has continued into 2026 after the French manufacturer picked up a hat-trick of wins at the annual What Car? Awards.
Although unable to defend the overall title that it won last year, the Renault 5 E-Tech was named as ‘Best Small Electric Car’ ahead of the likes of the Hyundai INSTER and the MINI Cooper E.
The Renault 5 was praised for both its retro looks and its performance, whilst the fact that the longer range version of the car benefits from Band 1 discounts under the Electric Car Grant means it also provides more value than ever before.
The Renault 4 E-Tech took the award for ‘Best Small Electric SUV for Value’ having also earned Band 1 status under the Electric Car Grant whilst there was also success for the Renault Clio as it was named as ‘Best Small Car to Drive’,
“What Car? is known for rigorous, real-world testing, so recognition across three very different categories underlines that our electric and hybrid strategies are working,” Renault UK managing director Adam Wood said.
“These awards show how Renault is delivering cars that make sense in everyday use – whether that’s an affordable electric supermini, a small car that’s genuinely engaging to drive, or an electric SUV that offers outstanding value.”
