Renault has revealed another concept car based on one of its upcoming EV models after confirming that the Renault 4 Savane 4x4 will appear at the French Open tennis tournament when it gets underway next week.

With Renault once again partnering with Roland-Garros - the host of the competition - the 4 Savane 4x4 will be displayed during the competition to give an insight into what the new EV would be like if tweaked to suit the 'gentleman explorer'.

The Savane sits 15mm higher than the standard Renault 4 for additional ground clearance and runs on special off-road tyres that are fitted to wheels designed specifically for the model.

A second motor is fitted to the rear axle to make the car four-wheel drive, with the main idea behind the concept being to display the flexibility of the AmpR Small platform on which it is built.

The concept comes in a special Jade Green colour scheme with black bumpers and wheel arches.

"True to the spirit of exploration of the Renault 4 Savane from the 1960s, the Renault 4 Savane 4x4 Concept show car pushes the adventurous side of the Renault 4 E-Tech electric to the maximum," Sandeep Bhambra, Chief Designer Advanced, Ampere & Renault said. "Its increased ground clearance and widened tracks are combined with a permanently active all-wheel drive system to allow it to tackle the most rugged terrains.

"With its unique Jade Green colour combined with glossy black elements and the deep brown interior, it adds a chic spirit worthy of 'gentlemen explorers' eager for limitless journeys."
