Skoda has announced its forthcoming all-electric seven-seat SUV will be known as the Skoda Peaq as part of a fresh naming strategy to reflect a new era for the Czechia company.
Though yet to be formally revealed, the Skoda Peaq will ultimately become the full production evolution of the daring Skoda Vision 7S concept revealed in 2022.
Fittingly for the name, the Peaq becomes a new flagship for the Skoda range, sitting above the Enyaq, Elroq and forthcoming Epiq in the firm’s electric SUV line-up. Notably, it moves away from Skoda’s naming policy of its conventional SUVs starting with a ‘K’, while electric SUVs start with an ‘E’
As the zero emissions alternative to the Skoda Kodiaq – the manufacturer’s best-selling model in the UK - the Peaq is seen as a critical model to Skoda’s future having also established a strong foundation of popularity for its electric models.
“With the Vision 7S, we entered new territory for Škoda, with a clear idea of how to elevate the brand,” said Martin Jahn, Skoda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing.
“Since then, we have introduced a new design language and further refined our product identity. Now we are bringing this innovative vehicle concept to life.
“Our new flagship model takes our brand values of spaciousness and practicality to a whole new level.
“As of today, our bold vision for Škoda’s electric future has a name: Peaq - a clear statement of where this model belongs in our portfolio.”
Set to be unveiled in summer 2026, the Skoda Peaq will adopt many of the design signatures debuted on the Vision 7S Concept [pictured], including a minimalist front-grille and headlight arrangement, plus a clean, simple profile.
The Skoda Peaq will hold court as one of the few electric seven-seat SUVs on the market, rivalling similarly sized models as the Peugeot E-5008, as well as the larger Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Kia EV9.
More details about the Peaq’s powertrain options and specifications will be made known nearer its reveal date.
