Skoda has announced that introduction of a new high-performance version of the Fabia that will ‘combine everyday usability with authentic motorsport DNA’.

The Fabia 130 has been created as part of Skoda’s 130th anniversary celebrations having been inspired by Skoda’s ongoing success in the world of rallying, where the Fabia has clinched the WRC2 title in eight of the last ten seasons.

Based on the current Monte Carlo variant of the popular small hatchback, the Fabia 130 features an uprated 1.5 litre turbo-charged engine that produces 174hp and is good for a top speed of 142mph.

That will make the Fabia 130 the fastest production version of the car ever built.

Alongside the uprated engine, the car features revised suspension to improve handling and a seven-speed DSG transmission that has been reprogrammed to give a more engaging drive.

Lowered sports suspensive provides a more aggressive stance, whilst there will be various driving modes available that adapt the weight of the steering and throttle response.

The Fabia 130 will be offered in Moon White, Velvet Red, Race Blue and Black Magic whilst on the inside, electric sports seats provide plenty of comfort and a 10 inch virtual cockpit comes as standard.

Sitting at the top of the range, the Fabia 130 will be priced at £29,995 when order books open at the end of October.
