The first images of the new smart #2 have been revealed as development work continues on a replacement for the famous Fortwo.
The #2 is set to be one of the smallest electric cars on sale when it joins the smart line-up, with the model set to be given a world premiere at some point during 2026.
The two-seater is currently undergoing testing of the Electric Compact Architecture that will underpin the model, and which is being developed by Geely and Mercedes-Benz.
Testing in China has been focused on what smart is describing as ‘core driving dynamics’, with running elsewhere focused on crash safety performance, suspension durability and battery performance - amongst other things.
With the current testing taking place with a mule car, the final design of the #2 and additional information on the exact specification of the model will be announced in due course.
