The largest model from smart to date is set to take the brand to a new level, with the all-new #5 arriving in showrooms before the end of the year.
The #5 will be the third all-electric model to be launched by smart following the #1 and the #3, with the multi-purpose SUV offering drivers a blend of style and technology in a rugged package that is instantly recognisable as being part of the smart family.
A key selling point for the #5 will be the fact that it is arguably the most usable model that smart has ever produced, making it the perfect option for families who are looking to move into an electric vehicle but have a desire to get behind the wheel of something that will stand out from a crowd.
Although this is the largest smart to date, you may not think it from the outside – but step inside and it’s a different story altogether.
The boot provides ample storage with 630 litres of space and a flat floor that will make loading up a doddle, whilst you can make that space even larger by folding down the rear seats.
There is also a huge number of internal storage compartments where that allow you to keep everything you may need close at hand.
Premium materials throughout the interior are bathed in light by the large panoramic glass roof, and you can even fold the seats flat to create a bed for a spontaneous night out gazing up at the stars.
A duel 13” hi-res display and intuitive interface also ensures that the infotainment system runs like a dream – with the #5 benefitting from advanced voice control functionality.
The #5 will give a range of more than 350 miles on a full charge and offers fast charging capabilities, with six different trim levels ranging from the entry level Pro model through to the Summit Edition that is inspired by the outdoors and comes in all-wheel drive.
There’s also a high-performance BRABUS version that will be the most powerful model in the range for those looking for a more sporty approach to their EV motoring.
Alongside the introduction of the #5, smart is set to return to its roots with development having started on a model that would become the effective replacement for the ForTwo that originally launched the brand in the 1990s.
