Somerset emerged victorious in the T20 Blast for the second time in three seasons after a record-breaking success in the 2025 final at Edgbaston.
The Vertu-backed side made the trip to Edgbaston for Finals Day looking to add to the titles won in 2005 and 2023, and also make up for heavy loss to Gloucestershire twelve months ago.
First up was a semi-final fixture against Lancashire Lightning, who put Somerset in to bat first.
Although Will Smeed was dismissed early with the score on just six, Tom Kohler-Cadmore led the Somerset attack with an impressive 81 from 52 balls to help his side to 182-7 from their 20 overs.
Kohler-Cadmore then had a key role to play when Lancashire went in to bat, taking a crucial catch to dismiss Keaton Jennings for 44 when he looked set to help his side on towards their target.
Some impressive work in the field, and solid bowling from the likes of Migael Pretorius, Ben Green and Lewis Gregory saw Lancashire bowled out for 159 – earning Somerset a spot in the final by 23 runs.
Hampshire saw off Northamptonshire in the second semi-final to set up an intriguing battle for top honours in front of a packed crowd, and went in to bat first when the final got underway.
Opener Toby Albert fired an impressive 85 from 48 balls whilst there was also a half-century for James Vince as Hampshire set a target of 195 for victory.
That would leave Somerset chasing a record-breaking total in order to join their rivals – and Leicestershire – as three-time winners and they were playing catch up in the early stages of their reply before Smeed and Sean Dickson came together with the score on 89-3 approaching the half-way stage.
The pair put on a total of 88 for the fourth wicket before Smeed departed for a fine 94 with the score on 177.
Captain Gregory came in to join Dickson at the crease and smashed 18 from just five balls to carry his side to victory – with a pair of sixes sealing the deal with six balls left of the innings.
