Toyota Introduces Hybrid To Aygo X Range

Toyota Introduces Hybrid To Aygo X Range

Toyota has confirmed that the Aygo X will be available with full hybrid technology for the first time later this year.

Based on projected figures, and subject to final confirmation, the Aygo X Hybrid is set to have the lowest CO2 emissions on the market for a non-plug-in car – which are anticipated to come in at just 86g/km.

By comparison, the Yaris Hybrid – the next model up in the Toyota range that is available as a full hybrid - produces a minimum of 91g/km.

Full details of the UK model range and specification will be confirmed in due course, although a GR Sport variant will be available in the Aygo X range for the first time.

The GR Sport will have a unique colour scheme and will include standard GR Sport detailing as seen elsewhere in the Toyota range, whilst the suspension and power steering has also been tweaked to improve the handling of the car.

Under the bonnet, the Aygo X Hybrid will be fitted with the same engine as found in the Yaris Hybrid, boosting power by 43bhp compared to the standard petrol only version.

Clever packaging of the battery cells for the hybrid element have ensured no reduction in storage capacity with a minor increase in the front overhang to incorporate the larger engine.

The front end of the car has also undergone minor design revisions that will set it apart from the current model and provide what Toyota has described as a ‘more premium feel’.
