Vertu Backs Edgbaston Community With Ford Test Drive Event

Vertu has used its recently-announced partnership with the famous Edgbaston cricket ground to support the local area thanks to the Drive 4 UR Community Initiative being run by Ford.

The national scheme has been launched by the manufacturer to help local dealerships support community organisations through test-drive fundraising events, with every test drive carried out seeing £30 donated to a worthy cause.

The Edgbaston event was carried out on behalf of five of Vertu’s Ford dealerships from across the West Midlands – in Birmingham, Kings Norton, Redditch, Shirley and West Bromwich – with the money raised going to support the work of the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation.

The Foundation operates a number of projects across the local community, working hand-in-hand with hundreds of Clubs and schools to support young people, offering a route into the game for female players of all ages and running accessibility cricket sessions for disabled players with a passion for the sport.

The test drive event was held on the back of a successful T20 fixture that saw the Bears defeat Yorkshire by six wickets, with a range of products from the Ford range being made available to test drive.

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, said: “Community is a key part of our new partnership with Edgbaston, and it’s great that we have been able to support the community through an event like this.

“The work that the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation carries out in the local area is fantastic, and we’re proud to play a part in creating opportunities that allow people to get involved in the sport.”

Phil Rumbles, General Manager Vertu Ford Redditch, said: “An event like this is all about giving back to the community and helping to support the Warwickshire Cricket Foundation.

"It’s given us the opportunity to bust a few myths about electric vehicles, and we’ve had a lot of engagement from people who have come down to have a look at the cars, and have also been able to help a very worthy cause.”
