Vertu Hyundai Nottingham Team Goes The Extra Mile For Cancer Research UK

Colleagues from Vertu Hyundai Nottingham swapped cars for running shoes as they took on the Race for Life 10k and raised over £3,000 for Cancer Research UK.
The initiative was spearheaded by Martin Chauntry-Brooks, General Manager at Vertu Hyundai Nottingham, who was inspired to sign up for the charity run in memory of his close friend Steve Hall, who tragically passed away from cancer far too soon.
Martin said: "Steve was an unbelievable person and an amazing friend who is missed every single day. I know he was with me every step of the way and got me over the line."
The personal motivation for Martin doesn't stop there. Two other people have played a huge part in inspiring him to take on the challenge. Long-time friend Ady Cocker is currently undergoing treatment for bowel and liver cancer yet continues to show incredible positivity throughout his fight. Martin also pays tribute to his Uncle Les, who is bravely battling cancer for the second time in four years.
"Despite everything he’s been through, Les continues to live life to the full. Just two years ago, shortly after treatment, he was still the life and soul of my wedding. Their strength and resilience are a huge inspiration," Martin added.
After mentioning his plans at work, Martin was quickly joined by James Hilliard, an accountant at Vertu Hyundai Nottingham, who immediately offered to take part. Since then, the team grew rapidly, with 13 people taking part, including ten Vertu colleagues.
To date, the Vertu Hyundai Nottingham team has raised more than £3,000 for Cancer Research UK, with donations still coming in.
Martin added: "I’m immensely proud of everyone who has joined me in taking on this challenge. Cancer affects so many people and their families, so to be able to come together as a team, do something positive, and raise money for such an important cause is incredibly special. Every pound raised takes us one step closer to finding a cure."
