Vertu has donated £10,000 to Churches 4 Positive Change (C4PC), a consortium of churches and community groups, to strengthen grassroots football in Wolverhampton. The funding has supported infrastructure improvements and youth-led football activities at the New Park Village (NPV) Football Ground.

The donation has funded the installation of new dugouts at the NPV Football Ground. The facility is owned and operated by NPV Football Development CIC, a member organisation of C4PC, and plays a key role in engaging young people through sport and mentorship.

The contribution also supported a week-long Holiday Soccer Camp delivered by NPV Football Development. Among the activities was a Mini World Cup tournament, which brought together young players from across Wolverhampton for a series of competitive matches filled with team spirit, drama and celebration.

Daniel Wilkins, General Manager at Vertu Ford West Bromwich, who attended the awards Mini World Cup, presentation said: “Vertu Ford West Bromwich longstanding partnership with both Churches 4 Positive Change and the New Park Village (NPV) Football Ground is about supporting a community that is making a real difference in the community.

“The work being done at NPV is creating safe, positive spaces where young people can grow, connect and feel valued. Seeing the dugouts in use is a reminder that even modest contributions, when part of a long-term relationship, can help build something lasting.”

Joe Jackson, who leads the New Park Village (NPV) initiative, said: “Thanks to Vertu’s support, we’ve been able to raise the standard of our work across the community. The Mini World Cup event has grown year after year, giving these young players something they’ll remember for life. It is always emotional, with heartbreak, frustration and joy all in one afternoon. But it teaches resilience and teamwork in a way that is hard to replicate elsewhere. It brings children together and helps them create bonds which will last a lifetime.

“When the kids walk out and sit in those dugouts, they feel like professionals. It is a detail that changes how they see themselves and how seriously they take the game. Vertu’s support has helped us offer something that feels meaningful and aspirational.”

Vertu’s relationship with Churches 4 Positive Change spans several years and has supported a wide range of community-led initiatives. From funding local celebration events to backing Wolverhampton’s community allotment project, the partnership has consistently focused on creating opportunities for young people and strengthening neighbourhood connections.

Previous support has also helped deliver educational workshops, mentoring schemes and seasonal community gatherings.

Robert Forrester, Chief Executive of Vertu, said: “Vertu Ford West Bromwich has worked with Churches 4 Positive Change for a number of years now, and it is a partnership rooted in shared values. The NPV Football Ground is a brilliant example of what happens when local leadership is matched with sustained support. It becomes a catalyst for change.

“Our commitment to grassroots sport extends across the region. In Birmingham, our partnership with Birmingham City Football Club has helped launch the Vertu Primary Schools Cup, giving schoolchildren the chance to play in a structured, competitive environment at professional-standard venues. Whether it is a community pitch or a stadium, the aim is the same – to open doors for young people.”
