Volkswagen has announced that it will introduce a special ‘Grant Guarantee’ against the ID.3 and ID.4 models ahead of confirmation on which models will be eligible for the Electric Car Grant introduced by the government.
It is expected that a full list of eligible cars will be revealed this month, but Volkswagen has taken the decision to offer a guaranteed discount of £1,500 on selected ID.3 and ID.4 models.
In order to qualify for the grant guarantee, customers will need to ensure that cars are ordered before 31 August and delivered on a ‘75’ plate from 1 September.
Volkswagen UK is funding the offer which will be honoured even if the government grant is not awarded.
Customers will not however be able to receive both the Volkswagen UK ‘Grant Guarantee’ and the government Electric Car Grant.
“We welcomed the Government’s announcement of its Electric Car Grant and wanted to make sure customers could start benefitting from lower-cost electric motoring as quickly as possible,” Rod McLeod, Director of Volkswagen UK, said.
“We have already seen an uplift in enquiries since the Government’s grant was announced, which is great news for Volkswagen’s electrification plans.”
