Volkswagen has announced the launch of two special edition models to celebrate the end of the Touareg after more than two decades.

First launched in 2002, the Touareg has been a major player in the luxury SUV market ever since, with the current third generation model having been released back in 2018.

Production of the Touareg is scheduled to come to an end in 2027, with Volkswagen celebrating the fact with the launch of both the FINAL EDITION and the R FINAL EDITION.

The FINAL EDITION will take the place of the Black Edition in the line-up, with the R FINAL EDITION taking the place of the R model.

The Touareg Elegance will also continue to be available, albeit only whilst stock remains available.

The FINAL EDITION will start from £72,535 with the R FINAL EDITION starting from £81,455. That is a lower price than the two variants that they replace, albeit with a number of additional extras being included as standard.

“The Touareg has always been a true flagship for Volkswagen, and the new FINAL EDITION versions are the perfect celebration of its many years of success,” said Rod McLeod, Director of Volkswagen UK.

“They combine the usual Touareg elegance with punchy performance and generous features. In short, they showcase everything that’s been so great about the Touareg since its launch almost a quarter of a century ago.”
