Audi Adds e-hybrid to Q5 Line-Up
Audi has confirmed that a plug-in hybrid version of the Q5 will be launched later this year with first customer deliveries expected to take place in the autumn.
The new Q5 went on sale earlier this year with a choice of petrol and diesel engines – both of which have an element of hybrid technology – but will now be joined by a full-blown hybrid that will allow for more than 60 miles of emission-free running.
The Q5 e-hybrid will be available in both the standard SUV design and also as a Sportback, and is set to start from £56,740 OTR.
Alongside the battery, which can be charged to full in around 2.5 hours, the Q5 e-hybrid will be fitted with Audi's 2.0 TFSI engine and will be able to run in both EV and hybrid modes.
Hybrid management systems will ensure that the car retains a specific level of charge in order to use electrical energy at a later time, with the car also having regenerative braking which can be adjusted to three different levels via controls on paddles on the steering wheel.
All hybrid models include S sports suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights plus and LED rear lights pro as standard as well as the MMI Experience plus infotainment system.
Cars can be ordered from July ahead of the first models arriving in September.
