BYD has announced a new hybrid version of the Atto 2, which will arrive in the UK in the Spring.

The Atto 2 DM-i will become the fourth hybrid model offered by BYD in the UK following the Seal U DM-i and the two variants of the recently announced Seal 6 – which is available as both a saloon and an estate.

The Atto 2 DM-i is expected to offer up to 620 miles of range thanks to BYD’s ‘super hybrid’ technology, with an all-electric range of between 24 and 55 miles depending on which of two battery configurations is selected.

Despite it’s relatively compact dimensions, the Atto 2 DM-i provides plenty of internal space, with a 425 litre boot being bigger than a number of larger models are able to offer.

Standard equipment across the range includes electrically adjustable side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers, an 8.8-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Deliveries are scheduled to begin in early 2026, with UK pricing to be confirmed.

“Super Hybrid with DM technology offers an ideal stepping stone for customers who want the EV driving experience without any worries about range anxiety,” BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said.

“With the BYD ATTO 2 DM-i, we bring those advantages to the compact SUV segment, creating a standout offering. The car's mix of pure-electric capability and huge real-world range make it unique in its class, and something that only we could produce.

“You can really see what we mean when we say it's not a car, it's a BYD!"
