The heavily updated all-electric BYD Atto 3 EVO line-up will start from £38,990 and boast more range, faster charging, increased practicality and enhanced performance.

Inspired by feedback from current owners of the BYD Atto 3, which helped launch the Chinese brand in the UK when it went on sale in 2023, the ‘EVO’ gets a raft of improvements aimed at keeping it competitive in the fiercely contested electric SUV segment.

Two trims levels will be offered, starting at £38,990 for the Design, which comes with an 15.6-infotainment touchscreen with Google integrated, front and rear parking sensors, 360-degree surround-view camera, V2L, a heat pump, 18-inch alloy wheels and electric/heated front seats.

Excellence trim starts at £42,730 and adds a heads-up display, heated rear seats and a panoramic sunroof with electric sunshade.

It’s under the skin where the Atto 3 EVO has taken a major step forward, however, with the new E-Platform 3.0 transforming the model into a rear-wheel drive (Design) or all-wheel drive (Excellence) car.

This change of layout allows the Atto 3 EVO to deliver vastly improved electrically powered performance with Design trim generating 309bhp (0-62mph in 5.5secs) and Excellence trim offering 443bhp (0-62mph in 3.9secs).

Moreover, electric range is also significantly up, rising to 316-miles, while charging speeds have doubled to 220kW so a 10-80% charge takes 25-minutes.

In addition to the changes, the Atto 3 EVO is also more spacious with a sizeable 490-litre boot on offer, plus a 95-litre ‘frunk’ under the bonnet.

The BYD Atto 3, which is on sale now, also gets a six-year/93,750-mile warranty as standard.
