The much-anticipated Renault 5 Turbo 3E has turned a wheel in public for the first time after making an appearance at the 2025 running of the Tour de Corse Historique.
The prototype model wowed fans in the town of Calvi, and also along the route of the Notre Dame de la Serra and Montegrosso special stages, with Renault ambassador Julien Saunier at the wheel.
The car ran in the same livery as the Maxi 5 Turbo driven by Jean Ragnotti en-route to victory in the 1985 running of the Tour de Corse.
“Driving this Renault 5 Turbo 3E is such an incredible experience!” Saunier said. “It really does have everything you'd expect from a super sports car – it's a true rallying beast.
“I was blown away by the acceleration, which doesn't fade when you gather speed, the braking that’s ultra-powerful yet easy to modulate, and its ability to perform spectacular but controlled drifts.
“It was such a fun drive, with all sorts of new driving sensations and at the same time, it was in the colours of the 1985 “Philips” Maxi 5 Turbo, also present on the Maxi 5 Turbo I’m currently driving in the Historic Tour de Corse. This is our tribute to the 40th anniversary of Jean Ragnotti's win.”
The Renault 5 Turbo 3E promise supercar performance when it goes on sale in strictly limited numbers, with just 1,980 cars being produced at a starting price of £140,000.
