Hyundai has confirmed UK pricing for the high-performance version of the IONIQ 6, with order books having now opened.

The IONIQ 6 N will start from £65,800 and is offered in the UK in a single specification, with the only options offered being a choice of six different colours and the addition of a tilt and slide roof.

Building on the success of the IONIQ 5 N, the new model will have a range of just over 300 miles, with fast-charging capabilities allowing the model to charge to 80% in under 20 minutes from a 350kW charger.

When running with maximum performance unlocked, the saloon will hit 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds and is capable of going on to a top speed of 160mph.

“The IONIQ 5 N revolutionised the world of performance cars, proving that an electric car could still raise the pulse of a driving enthusiast,” Ashley Andrew, President of Hyundai & Genesis UK, said.

“IONIQ 6 N delivers even more to the enthusiast driver; all the benefits of the 5 N’s high-performance E-GMP base, a suspension set up that produces both a different character, all encapsulated in the aerodynamic IONIQ 6’s electrified streamliner shape.”

News that the order books have now opened comes as the same time as the IONIQ 6 N was named as the ‘Best Electric Performance Car’ in the annual What Car? Awards – seeing off the challenge of the Porsche Taycan and the Audi e-Tron.

The IONIQ 6 N was one of two Hyundai models to come away from the awards with a prize to its name, with the SANTA FE being handed the prize for ‘Best Seven-Seat SUV’.
