Mazda Takes Covers Off All-New CX-5

Mazda has officially revealed the third generation of the popular CX-5, which is due to be launched in Europe next summer.
The new car will take on a similar appearance to the model is replaces but benefits from enhanced technology throughout – including an optimised 2.5-litre petrol engine that includes Mazda’s famous Skyactive technology.
That new engine, which is paired with a hybrid system, replaces the 2.0 litre unit used in the current car.
The CX-5 will be offered in four different trim levels - Prime-Line, Centre-Line, Exclusive-Line, and Homura – and will be available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
Smartphone style interaction will be possible via a centre console display of either 12.9 or 15.6 inches, with Google systems built in and a large digital instrument cluster that provides clear information to the driver.
A larger boot than the outgoing model means an extra 61 litres of space, with wider-opening rear doors to make it easier to get in and out of the rear seats.
“The Mazda CX-5 is an incredibly important car in Mazda’s history and I’m excited for the third-generation model to join Mazda’s SUV line-up next year,“ Jeremy Thomson, Managing Director, Mazda Motors UK, said.
"From the launch of the original first-generation car in 2012, the CX-5 has been a hugely popular choice for UK SUV buyers who have loved its style, quality and driver engagement, and having recently surpassed 100,000 sales in the UK, it’s clear this ever-popular SUV has seen amazing customer loyalty and satisfaction.
"It’s incredible to look back and consider just how much the UK market has changed since the CX-5’s launch in 2012. The huge increase in the popularity of SUVs means that today the CX-5 sits alongside the 2025 Mazda CX-60, all-new Mazda CX-80 and the smaller Mazda CX-30 in our line-up, but it was the success of the award-winning CX-5 that established Mazda as a maker of genuinely sporty SUVs, which deliver class leading quality and high levels of standard equipment.”
