With a fault rate of just 1.52%, Britain's best-selling home-grown electric car has once more proven that reliability and electric driving go hand in hand.
The Nissan LEAF has been confirmed as the UK's most reliable used electric car, topping a comprehensive study of real-world EV repair data covering the whole of 2025.
The analysis by Warranty Solutions Group examined 1,000 warranty repair claims paid across the country's most popular electric models, measuring both how often faults occur and how much they cost to fix. Among all vehicles studied, the LEAF stood apart, recording a claim rate of just 1.52%, the lowest of any car in the survey.
For anyone considering a switch to electric, that figure offers genuine reassurance. Reliability is consistently cited as one of the biggest concerns among drivers who are new to EVs, and this independent, real-world data makes a compelling case that the LEAF has little to worry about on that front.
What is the Nissan LEAF?
The Nissan LEAF is a fully electric family hatchback, and one of the most important cars in motoring history. When it first went on sale in the UK in 2011, it was among the world's first mass-market electric vehicles — a genuine trailblazer at a time when EVs were still considered a curiosity. What made it even more special was where it was built: the LEAF has been manufactured at Nissan's Sunderland plant since 2013, making it proudly British-built.
A Great Used Buy
Because the LEAF has been on sale since 2011, the used market is well stocked with examples at every price point. Earlier first-generation cars offer an affordable entry into EV ownership, whilst second-generation models from 2018 onwards bring greater range and more modern features.
Whichever generation you choose, the reliability data suggests you are getting a car with a genuinely strong track record behind it.
