Toyota has boosted its EV line-up with the addition of an all-electric version of the C-HR SUV.

The C-HR+ will be built on the same platform as the bZ4X and it due to go on sale in the UK before the end of the year, with a choice of two different battery options and with range of more than 370 miles.

That range will come from a 77kWh battery, with a smaller 57.7kWh option that offers less power and a lower range of just over 280 miles.

A flat floor, aerodynamic wheels, concealed rear door handles and roof mounted spoiler all contribute to a class leading drag coefficient score all contribute towards maximising range.

Both battery options offer fast charging, with battery pre-conditioning allowing for a targeted 10-80% charging time of around half an hour.

Visually similar to the regular C-HR, the new EV benefits from a lower centre of gravity thanks to the fact that the battery is positioned under the floor, with suspension tuned to ensure that the ride strikes a balance between agility and comfort.

With the C-HR+ being slightly larger than the C-HR, there is no shortage of space on the inside including a 416 litre boot whilst the car is fitted with Toyota Safety Sense systems as standard.

Full UK specification and pricing will be confirmed ahead of the C-HR+ going on sale.
